The chairs are always too small

[1-6] The large "chair-representation" stands outside an elementary school and is already visible from a distance. The smaller chair is placed in a courtyard within the school. It is an exact copy of the school chairs used in the school and is constructed out of solid steel and painted red. The chairs are placed within an axis and are in line of sight of each other.

"The chairs are always too small" represents the hopes, expectations, wishes and dreams of the children and parents at the start of a new school life. Reality and dream are reflected in the dimension and shape of the chairs. One is too large even for a giant and has a cartoon quality about it whereas the only difference between the smaller from the school chairs used in the classrooms is its colour. The border between art and reality is here deliberately liquid.

The meaning of the relationship between the two chairs is reinforced by their visibility to one another along the axis both internally and externally.
